When purchasing a JDM Subaru FB25 engine, you may notice that the U-shaped and T-shaped markings on the camshafts are different from the markings on your original engine.

This does not necessarily mean there is a problem with the engine. FB25 engines can have differences in camshaft specifications or timing configurations depending on the year, model, and application.

If the camshaft markings or configuration do not match the original engine, the installing mechanic may need to transfer the original camshafts from the customer's engine onto the replacement JDM engine to match the vehicle's original specifications.

This should be determined by a qualified mechanic before installation. The correct camshaft configuration and timing must always be verified for the specific vehicle.

IMPORTANT: Do not assume the replacement engine is incorrect solely because the U or T markings are different. Always compare the replacement engine with the original engine and follow the proper timing procedure for the vehicle. If different they have to be swapped out from original vehicle that its being installed to.
